I finally walked into a Lush for the first time ever. Hard to believe I’ve never experienced the amazing-ness of Lush, right?

Well, I recently got a good haircut. I have super curly, dry hair, so I decided to take care of it. I walked into Lush and asked the first employee I saw to tell me about their products—specifically hair products for curly headed people like me. (Thank you so much to Betsy from the Lush in Miami, FL for helping me out with all my questions!)

I ended up purchasing quite a few products from Lush, and also leaving with a buncha samples!

Here’s the low down on my first Lushie experience:

Queen B Hair Honey:  This “hair honey” is made specifically for curly, natural hair. It is packed with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients like almond oil, cocoa butter, and honey.  It is basically a styling wax that can be used to define curls and comes in a solid bar where you can melt some into your hands, and then apply to your hair. I am in love with this product and it has been just what my curls needed to be really defined.

R&B Hair Moisturizer: I was deciding between this one and the Jasmine & Henna Fluff Eaze. I went with R&B deciding based on the scent, because it’s insanely delicious. This hair moisturizer has completely changed my hair game. I use it as a leave-in conditioner, after I wash my hair. Then I let my hair air-dry and boom, frizz-free curls galore. My previous leave in conditioner did not work anything like this, and I have officially made the switch to this amazing, natural hair moisturizer.

The Greeench Deoderant: While in the store, I also looked into the natural deodorants because I know how bad anti-perspirants can be. This product however, was kind of a fluke for me and I wish I had just got a sample instead because I don’t think I’ll be able to continue using it. My underarms broke out a lot during the week or so that I used the Greeench instead of my Dove deodorant. It hurt. I really wanted this natural deodorant to work out for me but maybe I will find a different Lush solution another day.

Honey Lip Scrub: I have never really used a lip scrub before, but I decided now is a good time since I was in the store and I know I have an issue with my lips always getting chapped or dry or skin breaking. Lip scrubbing is new to me, but I have loved the effect so far. It’s edible so you can taste the honey deliciousness while you scrub, which is nice, and it leaves your lips feeling so new and smooth. It’s perfect for removing chapped, dead skin and helping your lip balm re-balance.

Samples:

I wanted to try a bunch of other products and fortunately, Lush gives out little samples. These are actually great sizes and can probably fill more than one use.

Curly Wurly Shampoo: This shampoo is made of  creamed coconut and coconut oil to moisturize dry, frizzy hair. It also contains avocado butter to hydrate. The shampoo has a weird consistency, kind of like a cream with chunky pieces in it. I didn’t really LOVE this shampoo. Although my hair was incredibly soft and moisturized, it also didn’t feel super clean afterwards, and  felt like the chunkiness never really fully dissolved.

Trichomania Solid Shampoo: This solid shampoo is Lush’s most hydrating and perfect for curly hair.  Trichomania is for hair that has lost its moisture and needs to be tamed. It is made of creamed coconut and coconut oil which cover every strand in moisture. I have never even heard of solid shampoo, but turns out the process is easy. Just rub the solid in your hands while wet to get some shampoo off the bar (just like a you would with a bar of soap), and use like normal shampoo! I liked this one more than Curly Wurly and it really did leave my hair feeling moisturized and tame. I have plenty of “sample” let, so I will get a few more uses in before I decide whether to make this brave switch to natural shampoo!

Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask: This face mask has a great scent, goes on smooth, and hardens like clay. It was refreshing to remove after it hardened, and felt really great on my face. I used it when I felt my skin breaking out on my chin, and that pimple went away! Definitely loved this mask and I would buy a full-sized tub of it for routine use.

So now that I’m thoroughly obsessed with Lush’s products and business model, sound off in the comments about your favorite Lush products? What do I need to try?!
